Opera houses and Concert halls

Barenboim Staatskapelle (c) Chris Lee For classical music fans the world over, Berlin is close to paradise on earth - eight major symphony orchestras, including the world famous Berlin Philharmonic! The main venues are Schinkel's neo-classical Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt square and Scharoun's golden Philharmonic Hall, with its sweeping, tent-like silhouette - now an icon of classic Modernism. And there's even three major opera houses - unique in any city the world over! Day after day, they provide world-class performances of classic and modern operas.
